Dragonfly - Pachydiplax longipennis Ants - Forelius pruinosus

Moved

Dolichoderinae: Forelius
Forelius pruinosus. Widely distributed in southern US, and extending norhtward in the central grasslands to the Dakotas and south all the way to western South America in the mountains. It has a predilection for open, sparsely vegetated areas, where it gains much of its nutrition from scavenging dead insects, as in your pictures. (Also fond of nectar and honeydew ... and french fries and sweet remnants in candy wrappers.)
