Ornate Checkered Beetle - Trichodes ornatus

These beetles come in red and yellow. Thanks to Kaufman Field Guide to Insects of North America, which I got a few weeks ago I figure they are Ornate Checkered Beetles whose larvae are feasting on my uncle's Alfalfa Leafcutter Bee crop.
