Possible species
Today I noticed a similar fly, pictured in both Stephen Marshall's book and in Eric Eaton's: Rhagio mystaceus. I won't declare that's what this is, but this photo does seem similar to the two shown in those two books.

I'm no expert
It does look the same as in those 2 books, but I'll wait for one of the fly authorities to comment so I don't make a mistake.
