Seemed to stay there for the night. Agricultural area with irrigation, desert broom, milkweed.

Chuck Holliday confirms
"Your other two Picture Rocks pix are correctly identified as Sphecius
convallis.

It's really interesting that you found the two species together - that's not a common thing."

S. convallis.
This is the specimen I meant was certainly Sphecius convallis:-)

Brown Sphecius speciosus - I doubt it
is what I should have said above. Do they all have the same common name? I answered my own question. See this site.
