be one of the variations of a Peck's Skipper, Polites peckius?

Unlikely
Peck's is very common hereabouts, this one appears quite different. Doesn't have the long central spot on the underwing. Also, Peck's are distintly yellow; this one is brown.

But then again ...
A local expert offers his opinion that I DO have a Peck's, that there is more variation than I have recognized.
