purple leaf beetle - Altica

purple leaf beetle - Altica
Nashua, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire, USA
May 28, 2008
Size: about 4.5 mm
This could very well be Phrato*ra purpu*rea but I wasn't quite sure. Taken by sweeping tree and shrub foliage less than a half-mile from where I collected one of that species.

It looks a lot like Altica foliacea but the genus is in bad need of revision.

I couldn't find any images of that species online.
Maybe I check some print media.

Altica sp

Altica cor*ni?
Altica co*rni is the right color and has a pronounced transverse pronotal sulcus like this one's. It's also on the New Hampshire checklist. (To be fair, so is Altica foliaceae though I couldn't dig up an image of it.)

Well, yes, I suppose I should move it to genus at least
:-)
