Strange Moth-2 - Peridea ferruginea

Strange Moth-2 - Peridea ferruginea
Minden, Haliburton, Ontario, Canada
June 14, 2008
Size: Small
This little guy is attracted to light. His markings seem very strange. Can anyone ID him please?

Moved
Moved from Moths.

Not an ID -
but this attractive moth looks like it might be one of the Prominent Moths - perhaps most similar to Peridea ferruginea?

Moving to Moths page for now. Hopefully a moth expert will confirm or correct...

Peridea ferruginea
When you allow for the tight fold of the wings, this surely looks right for Peridea ferruginea.

Strange Moth-2
Thanks for the detective work, David. I appreciate it.

Strange Moth
My pleasure. I checked quite a few images. The tight fold of the wing was what made it more difficult and fun to do.

Thanks, David -
I almost moved it to the guide page, but wanted someone else to look it over first... Will move this nice image to P. ferruginea now.
