It's very seldom where I can't even tell the order but this is the case here. I wish I could have gotten better shots. It looked cooperative and after a few handheld shots,I thought I could use the tripod but it startled and was lost. Truly puzzled. Fly, bug, beetle? Never saw anything like it before.

but looks like it could be a female March Fly (Bibionidae)? Maybe gravid? Please wait for one of the experts to comment, though...

Now I see you are right. I've had mostly males, but I remember now that my first ones years ago were in association with females. Must be early Alzheimer's.
