Seen on Heteromeles arbutifolia in our yard. (live oak/chaparral habitat).

Mordellidae in the genus Mord
Mordellidae in the genus Mordella. They're called Tumbling Flower Beetles.

for the ID. If they're still in the same place today, I'm gonna try to photograph them with a different lens that is better for these tiny guys.

 
hind leg
if you're going to try again then note as on the family's info page, many of these require a good shot of the hind tibia and tarsi to see the transvers "ridges" for ID. good luck :)
