Not even sure what family this belongs to.

Nice batch of beetles, Tom.
Was it a collecting/photography trip specifically?

Hi Jim
It was actually a butterfly trip. 15 of us from the Massachusetts Butterfly club hired Jim Brock, author of Kaufman's butterfly book to lead us around the White Mountains in Arizona for a few days, then we went over to California to the NABA butterfly convention for another 4 days. I turned over rocks, looked at muddy river banks and anywhere else I could and found all sorts of things.

That looks right
Thanks for the id.
