Cannibalism in Abedus herberti - Abedus

Cannibalism in Abedus herberti - Abedus
Santa Catalina Mountains, Pima County, Arizona, USA
June 26, 2008
Size: 4 - 5cm
I imagine that cannibalism in Belostomatids is relatively common, but I don't think I've ever seen a photo of its occurrence. So when I saw this scene playing out in the wild I figured it would be a good opportunity to document it.

As I mentioned in my other photo from this same location, Hoekstra and Smith confirmed that the species living in this stream are indeed Abedus herberti.
