Fourteen-spotted Lady Beetle - Propylea quatuordecimpunctata - male

Fourteen-spotted Lady Beetle - Propylea quatuordecimpunctata - Male
Kingston, Washington County, Rhode Island, USA
July 4, 2008
Size: 1/2"

Male - great photo!
He has a solid white "face" - females of this species have a dark mark in the center of theirs.

I just love the contrast between his shiny curves and the diagonal lines and translucent membranes of the plant. Beautiful!

Propylaea 14-punctata
