Sphinx Moth, not Hyles Lineata - Eumorpha fasciatus

Sphinx Moth, not Hyles Lineata - Eumorpha fasciatus
Harahan, Jefferson Parish, Louisiana, USA
July 5, 2008
My brother sent me this picture. At first I thought Hyles lineata, White-lined Sphinx Moth. However, the patterning is significantly different. Nothing else in Hyles in the guide is close. I'm working my way through the other Macroglossini. Does anyone else recognize it?

It looks a little closer to UK species Hyles livornica but not spot on:

Maybe a Hyles that isn't yet in the guide?

Moved
Moved from Sphinx Moths.

Pholus fasciatus
I'm thinking possibly Pholus fasciatus (lesser vine Sphinx) as seen in "The Moth Book" by Holland. The upper wings seem to be the same. It states it is common in the Gulf states and southward.

Pholus is an old name
now replaced by Eumorpha as referenced in the other comment here.

Try Banded Sphinx
Eumorpha fasciatus, in the guide here
