This is a new genus for BugGuide. Unfortunately, even after studying the following, I am not able to settle on a species.

According to Covell (1), NY is in the range of both E. notataria and E. convergaria.

These are quite flighty. Even if I'm 8' away, if I move, they fly. However this one landed on my backpack and stayed there long enough to let me try several close-ups.
