Any updates on this nest?

I cried
Unfortunately, we had to take it down less than a week later. Every time the garage opened it took the back of the nest off and there was a flurry of activity. My 10 year old went out too soon after this and got stung 3 times. We called a guy, there just wasn't going to be a way to make this work given where they made camp. I was so bummed.

sorry to hear that
There is a method of relocation, but it can be complicated.

At least you got some nice photos of the nest

We actually researched that b
We actually researched that but the problem was the location in the corner of the garage. With the trim work, angles, and curve of the back door. It just didn't have the access we thought we'd need to do it ourselves. So we did call all the places listed as "saving" pests, but they did not do wasps, it was all raccoon, skunk, etc. relocation. In the meantime, my kids and their unsuspecting visiting friends were at risk to be stung again. Believe me, I was more interested in saving them, then taking pictures. As I said, I was really bummed but I don't feel we were left with an option.

Ah I see
It does look in an awkward area where you don't have a lot of access.
The nest looks like it has, at the most, no more than 20 workers, too bad we live so far apart else I would have volunteered to come relocate it for you! I wouldn't recommend relocating anything larger, they can become very vicious and in large numbers are very hard to deal with.

If that area is a bad place for them to build, you should be sure to wash off all remnants that may be left of the nest in that corner. Such nest remnants are very attractive to spring queens, for some reason. You don't want another nest to start up there in the spring.

Great picture
Great picture of the nest. As this nest grows you are going to get a great view of what is going on inside the nest. I would love to have the nest at the end of the season if you would be willing to let me have it.

We're planning to preserve
At present we are planning to preserve the nest. It may prove too much a chore. Email me - loopy_squirrel@hotmail.com. I'd like to get your contact info and discuss potential of getting it to you if we decide we aren't going to keep it. - Leslie
