Ichneumon wasp - Gasteruption - female

Ichneumon wasp - Gasteruption - Female
Oak Ridge, Anderson County, Tennessee, USA
June 3, 2005
Size: about 2"
This strange-looking wasp was sipping nectar from New Jersey Tea flowers. It appears to be an Ichneumon wasp, but I can't find the common or scientific name. Can someone help me identify it?

Gasteruptiid?
Eric will know, but looks like

Gasteruption sp.
Gold star for the Balabans:-) The long "neck" and swollen hind tibia (shins) help distinguish gasteruptiids from ichneumons.

Thanks Eric! I love this site
Thanks Eric! I love this site, it is so helpful! I'll put the name of this wasp on my website. Is it parasitic on insect larvae like the ichneumons too?
