Big Black Beetle in Peoria AZ - Derobrachus hovorei

Big Black Beetle in Peoria AZ - Derobrachus hovorei
Peoria, Arizona, USA
July 7, 2008
Size: Around 6 inches
Admitedly, I'm not much of an insect person, and this is my first time trying to identify a specimen. Taken in my back garden, this specimen is around 6 inches in length and bears no real markings or special colouring that I can see.

Moved
Moved from Longhorned Beetles.

Thank you for the quick response!

West side of Phoenix is definitely
