Size: about 3 mm
Found on porch at night along with 2 diving beetles, a water boatman, and the regular non-aquatic stuff. I think this is Peltodytes (Haliplidae), shown at Cedar Creek and elsewhere on the web.
Bland's How to Know the Insects says "Some adults in the genus Peltodytes have two black spots on the posterior margin of the pronotum whereas those in the genus Haliplus lack these two spots."
