Size: 3cm
Obviously the flash I needed to use to get this photo is interefering with the clarity here, and probably the color as well. But the insect was at the most colored with pale yellow.

bald faced hornet
this hornet is called a bald faced hornet, and is naturally that color. the camera did nothing.
