I had a smilar photo, except the black line on my beetle was a double line. The experts were discussing D. conjugata versus tenuicornis for mine see http://bugguide.net/node/view/154858

It's definitely not D. conjug
It's definitely not D. conjugata as it has dark vittae and conjugata does not. It does match D. caroliniana well although the dark area on the head keys it away from that couplet.
