Some Sort of Fly? - Anthrax aterrimus

Size: About 1 - 1 1/2"
It appears to have recently come out of its larval shell. The hole in the wood beneath it is the where the shell was found. You can make out the one end of it.

Looks like it hasn't even hardened yet. The hole would have originally belonged to a cavity nesting wasp which was parasitized by this fly.
