unknown bee - Melissodes
Aromas, San Benito County, California, USA
July 11, 2008
Size: ~12-14mm
We have a large pot of these yellow flowers in our garden, I've been watching them all spring & summer & they always seem to be covered with honey bees but nothing of photographic interest -- until yesterday, when I checked them and saw 3 different bees in addition to the honey bees. This is the first one, which really stood out because of its long antennae. (live oak/chaparral habitat).

Moved
Moved from Long-horned bees.

Glad to see you back, Dr. Ascher!
