green sequined moth - Lacinipolia implicata

green sequined moth - Lacinipolia implicata
Richmond, Chesterfield County, Virginia, USA
June 11, 2005
Size: quarter-sized
This gorgeous moth didn't come out as clearly as I had hoped in the photo.

Seen these!
I saw one at camp last year. But after that one I haven't seen any others! Guess I better keep luring moths to my lamps!

10414 - Implicit Arches Moth - Lacinipolia implicata
.....but I like your name better :-) I've probably photographed 10 of that species, and my photos don't turn out as well as yours for capturing all the subtle colors. For some reason the green moths are a real problem for me.

Highly Varible ?
Is this a highly variable species. While most are green, same are white like my specimen

Some are even bright blue

Judging from the probable color of the backgrounds, I think these are not likely color-shift problems. Are these morphs?

thanks for the id
Thanks for the i.d. This is definitely an unforgettable moth. I hope to see it again and get the details a little sharper. It actually looked more vividly green in the photo than to my eyes.
