American Cockroach? - Periplaneta americana

American Cockroach? - Periplaneta americana
New Orleans, Louisiana, USA
July 8, 2008
Size: 1.5 inches, some more
Saw these monsters all over! So cool. This one ended up jumping on my face after I pursued it to get these shots... That was certainly interesting... Is this an American Cockroach/ Palmetto Bug?

American Cockroach
I must say im sorry to have killed one of these creatures in my home once !! but when i did, they strangest thing happened.....a long worm like thing came from out it's ass, and was trying to flee....it was about 4 cm long and about 2mm wide..........can any body explain that to me please !!! Thanks Jace

that should read its ass...
Shame shame... its vs. it's.

Sounds to me like it was some sort of parasite?

Yes.
To answer the question, yes, this is an American roach. Australian roaches have a pale streak across each "shoulder." They also speak with a charming accent (ok, so I made 'that' up:-)

haha
would love to see that

coackroaches
Man these things are gross. I live in Corpus Christi, Texas, Believe me there's no shortage of those here. Watch them movie Joe's Apt.

you kidding?
I love these things... So amazing... they could survive a freaking nuclear fallout apparently...
