Hard to ID a white moth? - Spilosoma virginica

Hard to ID a white moth? - Spilosoma virginica
Angelica, Allegany County, New York, USA
July 16, 2008
Sometimes white moths can be rather difficult for me to ID, especially if fore wing spots are light or absent. I try then to get a spread wing shot or body shot if possible. In this case all evidence leads to 8137 -- Virginian Tiger Moth -- Spilosoma virginica.

I'd agree, Spilosoma virginica. Usually other whites are Spilosomas as well, but often share an entirely different trait. (Different color of "collar" at neck, or different wings) But judging by this one's spots when the wings are lifted, it all adds up to S. virginica.
