Necydalis - male Necydalis

Oh, wow!
Neat find! This is a male longhorned beetle (really!) in the genus Necydalis. N. cavipennis is the 'common' species, I believe, but they are not encountered very often. Obviously, to see more, I need to go to more wine-tastings, or start wearing lipstick:-)

On my African trips, we used to joke with the locals about the newcomers who would report a fly in their drink early on their stay. After a while, or so it goes, they just flick the fly out of the glass and eventually (old timers by then) theygulp the drink, fly and all.
My wife has not reached that stage yet.

Thank you.
Thank you for the correction and explanation. One of the hazards of being a generalist...:-)
