Wee Harlequin (Cosmopepla bimaculata) - Cosmopepla lintneriana
Fergus Falls, Ottertail County, Minnesota, USA
December 31, 1969
Size: 5 cm long
I am wondering if I have identified this bug correctly. If so, then I can take care of them since they will digest my flowering plants by injection of digestive enzymes and then sucking out the juices.

Your ID is correct
though the size you give (5cm) should surely be 5mm (see guide). I've had these in my yard and never noticed much damage from them, though.
