Stilt-legged Fly (Micropezidae) - Taeniaptera trivittata - female

Stilt-legged Fly (Micropezidae) - Taeniaptera trivittata - Female
Atlanta, Fulton County, Georgia, USA

Stilt-legged fly.
Another outstanding portrait by Bill, this one of a stilt-legged fly in the family Micropezidae. Most are ant or wasp mimics.

Micropezid
I obtained the Neartic Diptera Manual section on these flies and after looking carefully at this one I think this is Taeniaptera trivittata. There is only one species likely in the area this was taken in this genus. And from head and body shape and the dark markings on the wings, this appears to be a female of this species.

Micropezid
Many thanks for your efforts in identifying this specimen. It is much appreciated.

Taeniaptera trivittata
I'll move this image to a guide page for the species--we have several images of this species, it's nice to know one in this family.

Great photo, Bill!

Thanks for the help and compliment, Patrick.

Thanks a lot, Eric...
After looking at this later, I thought it might be a Stilt-legged fly.
Appreciate the help.
