Aphid Eating Caterpillar - Allograpta

Aphid Eating Caterpillar - Allograpta
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma County, Oklahoma, USA
July 18, 2008
Size: < 1/2 inch
Found this caterpillar (or larvae) eating these aphids. The only carnivorous butterfly I know of is the Harvester, but this one doesn't really look like those, and I believe Harvestmen eat wooly aphids. I think the aphids are Milkweed aphids.

Moved
Moved from Flies.

It's a syrphid fly larva
I often see them eating these aphids, too.

We have similar ones labelled Allograpta (e.g. below), though I don't know where the initial ID was made.

Thanks! That helps a lot.
