Mydas Fly?

Mydas Fly?
Phoenix, Maricopa County, Arizona, USA
July 19, 2008
Size: length 30-35mm
When this guy turned up my first thought was that it was a spider wasp or something similar; but it looks more like a Mydas Fly now that I look at the photograph. Can you confirm? The abdomen was mainly orange; a little bit of it can be seen just under/beyond the wingtips.

Mydas fly seems right.
I'm no expert, but I've shot a couple and seen lots IDed here. Antennae are quite distinctive. Nice shot; detail on the wing is exceptional.

Thanks, Ron, both for the confirmation and your nice comment.
