Size: 3/4 to 2 inch
I have seen these (eating my flowers). I have seen them various sizes, from 3/4 inch up to about 2 inches. The are very strong hoppers.

Nymph, they get bigger:-)
This is a nymph of one of the bird grasshoppers in the genus Schistocerca, possibly S. nitens. Adults can exceed three inches.
