Thanks for the ID, Herschel. BTW, your Robber Flies website is fantastic. I too have a special interest in Robber Flies. You've got some great shots. I'd be interested to know what length of lens you like to use when shooting Robbers. Also, have you ever heard of a Robber Fly preying on hermit crabs or land crabs? Thanks again -- Catfish

I stick to my Sigma EX 150mm just so I don't go crazy with lens switching. Use a Canon flash on the tip for fill. Quite a few of those site shots were taken with a small Sony non-SLR. Never hear of a robber taking a land crab. Only a very few robbers will take prey from the ground and I don't think any of them overlap in range except maybe in CA.
