Scuttle (Phorid) Fly - Chaetopleurophora

Size: less than 5mm
This hyperactive little thing uses a rapid series of mini-jumps instead of walking or running to move around on a flat surface. The Family Phoridae are also known as Humpbacked flies for reasons not obvious in this view from above.
