Wow!
A beautiful Eacles imperialis - Imperial moth. I especially love the face shot.

Wait a minute.. The form, size, and color of this moth tells me it might not be E. imperialis, but something different. (still an Eacles though)

Edit: Okay still would love confirmation, but I'm sure it is just a nicely pink and smaller female Eacles imperialis.

Could be Eacles imperialis pini.

But I don't suspect it unless it was found in/near a coniferous forest area, particularly in association with Pinus strobus (and a few other Pinus species). Subspecies pini is very uncommon compared to the nominate species, and even considered rare over much of its range. A view of the ventral HW would help.

Your first instincts were correct. It's a male Eacles imperialis.
