Nice shot. These are a bear to photograph.
(A very small bear, admittedly.) Looks like Aeolothrips to me, but my experience is limited here. Quite a gang in the other shot.

I've tried a number of times to get decent pics of the thrips in my yard, which are a different kind and much smaller! It was a pleasure to find these guys down at one of the local parks. Your pics were some of the ones I used to tentatively ID these guys! :)
