Unknown Syrphid - Paragus

Unknown Syrphid - Paragus

Looks like a little male syrphid but I'm not familiar with the species. First one I've seen of its' kind.

Yep, it is
A male Paragus sp.
Greetings

Thanks
Thanks, Gerard. I'll have to do a little research on these.

I've run into two colors.
Most are red, the others muted. Red is most common. Often, they curve their body when they perch, and noticing that provides a quick tentative ID.

Thanks
for the heads up, Ron. I have seen them do that. I have also seen the more muted ones but haven't been able to get a good shot of one.
