Bembix americana spinolae (ON)
One of only two species of Bembix in Ontario (the other one is VERY rare).

Bembix americana spinolae
Thanks Matthias, Jon and Eric. Could anyone tell me the other species of Bembix in Ontario?

Looks like
maybe a bembicine wasp. Appears similar to the bicyrtes I've been seeing. Nice shots:)

I agree, sort of.
Sand wasp indeed, a female (note tarsal rake on front "feet"), but not Bicyrtes (no squared-off hind margin of the thorax as Bicyrtes have. So, I would say this is a species of Bembix.
