Gold spots - Idia aemula

Gold spots - Idia aemula
Salt Lake, Salt Lake County, Utah, USA
July 20, 2008
This moth has two gold spots on each wing. Does anyone know what it is?

Common Idia
This appears to be Idia aemula (Hodges 8323)

Wonderful!
I spent about an hour this morning trying to find anything that resembled this moth. Thank you so much for finding it.

Common Idia
I have done the same thing and when someone points out the right one I can't imagine how I missed it. I have gotten a little better at recognizing the key features but some easily can fool me. Also, when I'm hunting for one thing, sometimes I find another I was looking for. So... I think the searching is not wasted time.
