Interesting difference
In my photos, , only the male has that light brown intrusion on each side.

Hover Fly
Looks like a Hover Fly.

 
Syrphid
On the left wing, you can see (barely) two diagnostic wing-vein features of Syrphids, the large swoop in the middle vein near the tip of the wing, and the spurious vein (see this page, figure on lower right).

 
Hairy eyes
might have some significance. Most flies with this appearance turn out to be Eristalis. Less frequent are Palpada.

This one looks quite close. I think we're safe with Eristalis


Note comment on face. With flies, it's often good to get the face and a view from the rear as well. Most important, however, is a shot from above showing wing veins and pattern on back, but you're already doing these.
