Soft Brown Scales (possibly Coccus hesperidum)? - female

Soft Brown Scales (possibly Coccus hesperidum)? - Female
Mountain View, Santa Clara County, California, USA
July 27, 2008
Size: ~ 3 mm
I found these scale insects (?) on the stem of an Oleander shrub. Possibly Coccus hesperidum based on some internet research, although I'm not at all sure...

Moved
Moved from Scales and Mealybugs. I don't think it's Coccus hesperidum, since those are supposed to be flattened and light-colored, but I'm not sure which of the other 1000 species it might be.
