Ground beetle? - Pterostichus melanarius

Size: 14 mm
Found at the edge of a sidewalk. It did not move and may be dead.

The ground beetles I looked at in the guide had lighter legs. Would a dead beetle's legs change color?

Pterostichus melanarius is a logical choice
for this northeastern carabid that is likely a Pterostichus with pronotum showing sharp (projecting) hind angles. A well-known introduced species.

legs
will stay the same color, there are just a lot of carabid species, this one has black legs.
