Margarethe, I was admiring some of your work...
and notice you titled this image as Bolbocerastes imperialis. I created the the species page for Bolbocerastes imperialis. I don't know if you were positive about the identity so I will let you move it if it needs to be moved.

I've shown this guy to Bill Warner
and he thinks that our ID is very likely correct

Thank you very much, Ron
If you look at Phillip's comments to you'll see that it's not 100% sure. It's still betweentwo species and I'm planning to compare my specimen to the ones of the UoA collection this winter.

great
shooting on the white background works really well.

I'm trying
to 'collect' Arizona beetles this way and maybe publish somehow - perhaps just as a web site.

I would love that!
I have been waiting for a "comprehensive" Arizona beetle book or web site for years. Even if it were primarily photographs, it would be a great thing to have out there.

Robyn

Comprehensive sounds
way tooooo ambicious. But I've taken several hundred IDed photos (many thanks to the bugguide) within two years, so there will be many species depicted if I keep adding for a while.
