A plump little beetle with very large jaws, sunning itself on a tree trunk. Any ideas what this is?

Anthribidae: Goniocloeus bimaculatus
Not a common thing in our area. If you see another one, I wouldn't mind having it.

I'll keep an eye out for another one of these.

Fungus weevil.
The family is Anthribidae, but I have forgotten what the genus name is now. Try Euparius first.

Thanks Eric for pointing me in the right direction. All the sites with pictures of Anthribidae were European and Asian. Nothing from North America. But that is the right family, after looking at the foreign beetles.
