Many-spotted Skipperling - Piruna cingo - Piruna aea

Many-spotted Skipperling - Piruna cingo - Piruna aea
Arivaca Creek, Buenos Aires NWR, Pima County, Arizona, USA
July 29, 2008
Certain this is a Many-spotted Skipperling, but name seems to be in confusion: Piruna (cingo or aea?). Found 2 at the same time intent on ingesting minerals in a moist section of the creek that had very recently lost surface water.

Good Year
These seemed to have quite an influx from Mexico this year. I found them at Harshaw Creek and Peña Blanc Lake, both in Santa Cruz County. There were numerous individuals at both locations. Great Photo.

I'm finding
the same thing with Elissa Roadside Skippers. Have seen them in 3 different localities either in or on the border of Santa Cruz County.

Moved
Moved from Piruna.

Thank
you, Hannah.
