Short-horned Grasshopper - Oedipodinae family? - Cratypedes lateritius - female

Short-horned Grasshopper - Oedipodinae family? - Cratypedes lateritius - Female
Russian Wilderness, Siskiyou County, California, USA
July 4, 2006

Moved

Going to stick with this identification for now,
but in retrospect, it might be some other related species.

Moved from Band-winged Grasshoppers.

Cratypedes lateritius
at least by Otte's treatment. This is a troublesome group in California, highly varied from place to place. Always neat insects though.

Thanks . . .
David:
Thank you very much for the help with regards to this insect being Nevada Red-winged Grasshopper (Cratypedes lateritius).
Regards,
Scott

I agree.
I agree with the subfamily ID, moving it there.
