Cabbage white female? - Pieris rapae - female

Cabbage white female? - Pieris rapae - Female
Toronto, Ontario, Canada
August 1, 2008
Size: ~20 mm head to wingtip
I'm guessing the three black spots visible through the wing could be two on the forewing and one on the hindwing, which if this is Cabbage White would make it a female.

Moved from Butterflies.

Pretty sure you're right.
Three spots gave me pause, but I found a photo of Cabbage Whites puddling and, wings opened a bit, one did have three spots.

Further, here's a passage from a second book Butterflies through Binoculars The West:

"Note the one (male) or two (female) black spots on the middle FW and the horizontal black spot at the FW apex." (emphasis theirs)
