Knudson, E. & C. Bordelon. 2004. Illustrated Checklist of the Lepidoptera of the Lower Rio Grande Valley, TX. Vol. 2B: Macro-Moths. Texas Lepidoptera Survey, Houston. xiv + 59 pp. 20 plates.
Sphingoidea, Bombycoidea, Noctuoidea, 20 color plates.
"We include species known to occur in Cameron, Hidalgo, Starr, Willacy, Zapata, Jim Hogg, Brooks, and Kenedy Counties."
This is an absolutely *invaluable* reference for anyone studying the moth fauna of South Texas. The 20 plates contain extremely sharp, large color photos of impeccably mounted specimens. The Noctuoidea comprises 13 of the 20 plates.
The authors wrote several sentences of text for each species, mostly pertaining to the species distribution and abundance.
