Himmelman's Plume Moth - Geina tenuidactylus

Himmelman's Plume Moth - Geina tenuidactylus
West Chicago Prairie, DuPage County, Illinois, USA
June 18, 2005
Size: 10mm
I've never seen a moth like this before. I think it's a moth. I thought it a fly until I got it on the big screen, and I see what I think are hindwings - but they look like feathers - and at the 'thorns' on the legs... too cool.

Thanks folks
Thanks, everyone. Bob, I'll email you a square print for the plates.
Chiggers not the problem now - deer flies and ticks! luckily, they rarely bite (me:)

Apparently these are hard to ID. Here's a Plate from the MPG website that's worth looking at. Several look like yours...I'm not experienced enough to choose.
