Only one individual found on a White Pine branch. Chunky -- so caterpillar? Sorry, didn't check the 'feet' at the time.

Way too many pairs of abdominal prolegs - this is a sawfly larva.

 
Yes, I've found the Introduced Conifer Sawfly photos...
...and this is it. I thought sawflies congregate as larva, but I've been checking this tree for 2 months and this is the 1st time I've seen one.
