Eudiagogus pulcher

Eudiagogus pulcher
Cameron Prairie National Wildlife Refuge, Cameron Parish, Louisiana, USA
July 3, 2008
Size: 1/3 inch
I am hoping someone can clarify my confusion. I looked carefully at the Guide pages to ID these weevils. According to the guide, this species is Eudiagogus pulcher. The next picture I am submitting is supposed to be Eudiagogus maryae. And the third picture is the 2 species mating.... They were all on the same bush and they weren't just crawling on each other's back; they were totally joined together. Is this right?!? Are they really different species? As a side note of interest, the fourth picture is of the related Eudiagogus rosenschoeldi, also on the very same bush.

My opinion, for what it's worth...

I think the Eudiagogus maryae is smaller than the Eudiagogus pulcher.

I have also seen Eudiagogus rosenschoeldi mounted by Eudiagogus maryae but have no pictures.

But if you want wierd pictures...

At least these two are in the same genus...

This Green Dock Beetle (Gastrophysa cyanea) and Multicolored Asian Lady Beetle (Harmonia axyridis) only relate at Suborder level!
